Marcel Louis Baugniet 1896-1995
Belgium Painter and designer. Involved with the magazine "7 Arts". Married dancer Akarova. Seduced by Russian Constructivism, he discovered at the Exposition des Arts Decoratifs in Paris in 1925, he painted sports and dancers Cubo-Futurists. Created costumes and sets for Akarova, manufactures tubular furniture and rugs (1923), opened a design shop in 1927. Present in all major international exhibitions of decorative arts (Paris, New York, Monza, Milan). The common conventions of Sarraz (Switzerland) in 1936 and 1938 where he met Max Ernst and Oskar Schlemmer. After passing through the figurative end of the 30s, he returned to geometric abstraction in the late 50s' and co-founded the magazine with Jo Delahaut Measures and Jean-Pierre Maury in 1987.
