Desny cup
Extremely hard to find modernist museum piece by Desny. Circa 1928. Silvered brass. Stamped "Desny Paris, made in France, déposé". 19.5cm diameter. 10.5cm high. ( 7.7" diameter 4.1" high).
Please look at the two last pictures. The first one shows the last item by Desny auctioned at Christies for 17500eur (24800$us).
The second picture shows a Desny fruit cup published in december 1928 "Art et Industrie". Very similar to the cup I propose.
Founded by Nauny Clément, Maison Desny delivered a prolific output of luxury decorative objects, despite its relatively brief period of existence between 1927 and 1933. Operating from an address firstly on Rue Cambon and subsequenty on the Champs Elysées, the lighting, vessels and tableware produced by the company was distinctive not only for the architectural presence of the forms, but also for the exceptionally high quality of manufacture. Desny's streamlined aesthetic found numerous supporters amongst the artistic avant-garde, most notably the Maharaja of Indore, who acquired a large selection of nightlights for prominent display at his Modernist palace.
