Bio

Paul Silvestre (1884-1987)

French sculptor. Prix de Rome 1912.
Paul Silvestre was born in Toulouse, where his father was a carpenter. Admitted in 1905 at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris workshops Antonin Mercie and Antonin Caries.
Exhibited regularly from 1921 at the Salon des artistes français, where he won a gold medal in 1930.
He was appointed a Knight of the Legion of Honour in 1906.
