Pierre blanc sculptures appear rarely on the market. Over all sculptures from his first period when working with Pompon and Martel brothers.
Pierre Blanc : Pupil of Maurice Sarkissoff at the School of Fine Arts in Geneva from 1919 to 1924, he collaborated from 1924 to 1925 in the decoration of the Swiss Federal Tribunal in Lausanne, then moved to Paris in October 1925 where he resided until 1939. It is in Paris that he started to work on animal sculpture by attending the Jardin des Plantes and the Zoo de Vincennes where he studied animals on the spot. He then became associated with François Pompon and becomes a practitioner in the studio of José and Jean Martel. During this period, he participated in the Salon d'Automne (1928-1931), the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs (1930) and the Tuileries (1930, 1931, 1938). In 1932, 1934 and 1935 he won the Beaux-Arts Scholarship and received a first order from the city of Lausanne: a bronze boar for the Denantou Park; mobilized in 1939, he left France and moved permanently to Lausanne where he organized several exhibitions. He received many commissions from his hometown, which in 1962 put a workshop at his disposal at the Orangery of Mon Repos Park. He participated in the restoration of the porch of Lausanne Cathedral from 1970 to 1974. After the war, he returned to a more conventional figurative sculpture.
