Fritz Behn (1878-1970) was a German sculptor who studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich under Adolf von Hildebrand and Wilhelm von Rümann. He was patronized by Prince Regent Luitpold and participated in the Venice Biennale in 1905, 1907, and 1909.
Behn was a member of the Munich Secession and was awarded the title "Königlich bayerischer Professor" (Royal Bavarian Professor) in 1910. He worked at the universities of Munich and Stuttgart as well as at the Weimar Art Academy.
Behn won the tender for the erection of the German colonial war memorial in 1913, but the memorial was not executed. He enlisted as a war volunteer in 1914 and had contact with Adolf Hitler from 1921.
Behn lived in Buenos Aires from 1923-25 and was elected president of the Munich Artists' Cooperative in 1927. He initiated the National Socialist Kampfbund für deutsche Kultur in 1928 and was included in the Gottbegnadeten list. Behn presented himself as an opponent of the regime after the end of the Nazi dictatorship and received a pension from the Federal Republic of Germany. He was awarded the Senate Plaque of the City of Lübeck in 1968
