The posture of the sculpture recalls some of Vaslav Nijinsky's (famous Russian ballet dancer) iconic poses, particularly from his performances in The Afternoon of a Faun (1912) and Petrushka. Nijinsky was renowned for his angular, almost sculptural movements, breaking away from classical ballet lines to embrace more archaic and expressive forms.
