    Enrique Barros Fernández (1905–1990) was a prominent Spanish sculptor and a key figure in 20th-century Basque art. Trained in Paris under the master Antoine Bourdelle, he developed a style that blended classicism with a powerful, modern sobriety. His work, centered largely in Bilbao, is renowned for its dignified portrayals of labor, religious subjects, and popular folk themes. He is most famous for his Muse at the Arriaga Monument and for representing Basque art at the 1937 Paris International Exposition.
