Auguste Peyroula French Deco sterling silver, gold, jade, enamel Rectangular Compact.

Sliding clasp set with a rose-cut diamonds (or marcassite.... not sure... but Peyroula on such pieces always used diamonds). Carved jade, opening to a mirror within the lid, two hinged compartments and a centrally mounted lipstick holder. Fully hallmarked .800 silver vermeil. Boar's head stamp for Paris Assay Office, 1904-1937.

Silversmith Auguste Peyroula, is recorded as working between 1904 and 1937 from 5 rue d'Alger, Paris. He appears to have made a number of vanity cases of similar design in different enamel colors with the slide adorned with diamonds, coral or jadeite flowers. He is also known for offering his incredible manufacture for some of the most precious Cartier, Tiffany and Van Cleef & Arpels Art Deco vanity cases.
