From Belgium estate, rare group of 8 paintings by Francois Van Stichel.

François Van Stichel, if known for rare paintings sometimes on the market, was more known for his architectural works in Belgium. Making research about the artist, we have found very little information. Probably painting for his pleasure more than for money or celebrity, Van Stichel was however inscribed as professional painter (and architect) in Belgium Professional Artist Association. (ref. Moniteur Belge, n°70-71, 11 march 1952,page 1688 ) Starting his architect career after WWI, Van Stichel was first involved in reconstruction works in Luxemburg province. In the 1930's we can find several houses in modernist and art deco style, he did in Bruxelles. (registered in Belgium inventory of architectural heritage. More details here : link). In his painting works, we can find a deep interest in the world of work. Colors are often dark, but he succeeds with real talent to give to postwar ambience a touch of color and humour. Attitudes and movements also give to his magnetic art an energy that is a contrast opening grey skies and night.

Far from beaten tracks of the Art market, Van Stichel works are sensible, precise and rare. A great painter to discover.
