1938 bronze trophy Fraisse

Stunning art deco dated 1938 trophy. Signed by famous french artist Edouard FRAISSE(1880-1956).

Edouard Fraisse is known for his medals and sculptures often used as sport trophy.
This silver plated bronze large sculpture (58cm x 45cm / 23" x 18") was mounted on a wood board with a palm marked "L'auto".L'auto was a famous newspaper dedicated to sport events. It is now "L'equipe". The trophy was for "La Ville La plus sportive de France" = The most sportive french town.

It was awarded to Strasbourg in 1938. This trophy is the real trophy the city received.

If more interested in art deco design than in the sport memorabilia you can display the trophy without the wood board and the palm (you should keep preciously !) as it is very easy to dismantle with few screws and bolts. We can even do the job for you.
