Dh. Chiparus. Cleopatra bronze figure. Circa 1925
DEMETRE CHIPARUS
CLEOPATRA A SILVERED AND GILT-BRONZE FIGURE, CIRCA 1925
modelled as the Egyptian queen reclining on a divan, her head supported by her arm resting on a pillow, raised on marble base with applied name plaque, signed in the bronze D.H.Chiparus
16¾in. (42.5cm.) wide
Auctionned for about about 10000euros in 2008 at Christies.
Very rare variation, with pillow, of the more common Cleopatra right oriented on divan.
Excellent genuine patina that shows normal age wear. (we have decided to keep it untouched, just cleaned, so she keeps full authentic charm)
