A very rare art deco modernist bronze sculpture.
Signed in the bronze. Foundry marks "Susses Freres Paris" + foundry stamp.

Circa 1930

Life size version of this sculpture was exhibited in the french "Atlantique" ocean liner "Grand Salon" in the 1930's.

Leon Rivoire :

Cusset 1884 - Paris 1966. Student of Injalbert at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. Important Sculptor adherent to the Avant-garde Movement. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Francais in 1905, and later at the Salon d'Automne. He worked on Bronze, Marble, the Stone. Honorable Mention in 1906. Silver medal in 1921. Gold Medal in 1929. In the year 1930, makes a Bronze Sculpture: Neptune pulled by a Horse marine, for the steamship Normandie. Another of his major Works, "Diana with Hound" ( 1928 ) is found in some Museums: the Louvre, and Newark (New Jersey). A Marble Statue of "Bather" is in the Musée du Luxembourg. He has exhibited in Paris, London, Rome and Buenos Aires.
