Very hard to find pair of bookends by André Vincent Becquerel (1893-1981).
Silver plated bronze.
Signed to the bronze.
Foundry Mark (Eling Paris = Very famous foundry. Use to work with Chiparus)
Excellent condition and quality.

Andre-Vincent Becquerel (French, 1893 ~ 1981) Born at St. Andre-Farivilliers, he studied under Hector Lemaire and Prosper Lecourtier. He specialised in animal sculpture, showing a marked preference for predator, feline and ornithological subjects, which he exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Francais from 1914 to 1922 and where he became a lifetime member.
