Art deco trophy
Fantastic medal / trophy / award ... a real mistery. Bronze. Dated 1931. Signed. And marked with Surrealist sentences :
"absolute between us like a child" "A truth borned this day" "October 5, 1931".
Signed Guilleminot Jeanne and the famous French sculptor André Galtié.
9" high.
I have no idea of the reason why this piece was executed but the quality of construction as well as the fineness of the central sculpture attests to a major project. Perhaps architecture ? Music ?
Andrew Galtié, medalist, born in 1908 in Toulouse. Studies steel engraving at the Ecole Boulle, then pupil of PATEY DROPSY and at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Also studies at the Ecole Normale Superieure of technical education.
