CARTIER 1930 art deco sterling and lacquer concealed watch lighter

CARTIER 1930 art deco sterling and lacquer concealed watch lighter

A unique and extremely hard to find circa 1930 CARTIER art deco sterling silver and lacquer concealed watch lighter.

The watch is concealed in a spring loaded compartment at the bottom of the lighter.
Watch movement signed "J. Schulz". Case is signed "Jsch" in several places. James Schulz was an independent watchmaker in New York City who began his career at Tiffany & Co. and later designed unique timepieces for Cartier. Watch dial signed "CARTIER". Serial number "341243" on interior of watch compartment. Swiss 17 jewel manual wind watch movement signed "J. Schulz"
67mm x 20mm x 8mm
minor imperfections to the lacquer finish. (one corner of the lighter top cover).
Watch did not run when I bought it.... but finally started ! Probably needs cleaning and service. Watch crystal is missing. I can have it redone on measure. 3 weeks delay.

These lacquer art deco period CARTIER pieces are very hard to find and rarely appear on the market.
The only comparable piece I have found was auctioned at Christies in 2002 for more than 6000eur.
