Impressive art deco bronze by famous and rare italian artist Stefano Borelli. (1894-1962).
Brown patinated bronze on green marble basis. Signed in the bronze. Circa 1930. 63.5cm high ( 25" ).
Works by this artist are really hard to find because very few were edited.
Most of them are unique pieces.


STEFANO BORELLI (Mondovi, 1894 - Turin, 1962)
From Piedmont county, after attending an art class with teacher John Guarlotti and  a period of apprenticeship with the cabinetmaker James Croissants (Turin, 1863-1930), he became a pupil of Gaetano Cellini, professor at the Accademia Albertina in Turin.
He made several commemorative monuments such as the War Memorial of Lanzo, the Artillery Monument of Alexandria, the bas-reliefs of the Life of San Donato in Finale Ligure,  the bronze statue of General Giardino in Bassano.
He was also medalist :  Portray of  General Giordano, Vittorio Emanuele III, Pius X, Giovanni and Edoardo Agnelli.
He participated over the years to many exhibitions. At the Venice Biennale in 1930 he exhibited a portrait of S. E. the Hon. Augusto Turati. In 1937 he won the second prize ex-aequo in the competition organized by the City of Turin for two monumental statues representing the rivers Po and Dora to be placed in via Roma In 1940 he participated in the XXII Biennial of Venice with the portrait of Admiral S. Piedmont E. Paul Thaon Revel.
In 1943 he exhibited at an exhibition of Piedmontese artists at the Gallery of Rome.
His works are exhibited in several museums including :
The National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome.  "The Player", bronze and marble.
The Quirinale Palace in Rome :  Two heads of women.
